From 8 to 28 June 2026, Dhammakaya Europe will organize an ordination program in Belgium for men who would like to join the monkhood for a brief time. The ordination program offers the monk’s life in a period that can be combined with modern work life. In essence, it is a brief introduction to the monk’s life, although the ordination ceremony you go through is the full ceremony for full-fledged Buddhist monks (upasampada). This program will give you the opportunity to study Buddhism in depth and practice meditation under the guidance of Thai Buddhist monks. You can find more information about the program right here.
Leading up to the program we will organize information evenings, Saturday 13 December, next year 10 January, 21 March and 11 April, during which you can ask any questions you might have about the program, and we will provide you with more information about the schedule and the requirements. There is also opportunity to rehearse the ordination chanting. Joining one information evening should suffice, but you can join more.
The information evenings will be given by Lp Pisit, Lp Sander, and Heiko, teachers and former participants on the program. The evenings will run from 7.00 to 8.00 PM CET, which is one hour earlier in UK time. You can register for the evenings here. Please note that the Zoom link is on the top of the application form!
